The third ray or spike on the male's dorsal fin will be longer....The female will have more blue spangles in the black spot in the middle.

I am getting a ready to feed culture of Walter worms tomorrow for the (I hope) fry. If they dont do so well with this batch of eggs I am sure there will be more so I will be ready with ittty bitty worms for them 
Oh and they have dug quite a few pits in the sand in several spots in the tank.....

Looks like all the eggs have hatched and theres just bad ones and 'shells' behind. Looks like a pair is guarding a pit under the heater, I cant see if anything is there or not...

To feed fry without freaking the parents get you a foot or so of rigid plastic air line tubing and attach it to a syringe with an inch long piece of flexible tubing. This allows you to squirt food amongst the fry without your hands in the water......You probably already do this any way.
