New rams!!

These are German blues crossed with electric blue rams. They are getting their own 33g long with some plants some rock and sand.
Should be 3 males and 5 females.










So this is gonna sound dumb.... how do I sex these guys?

I love these guys! Their color changes so much and they have the coolest personality!

All I know is females are less colorful and smaller.

Ok I will do some research on that, researched on every thing except how to sex them

when the fry are free swimming, you should remove the fry or parents. they love freshh meals;-)

Every one of them have a purple belly. Judging by how they are acting there are 3 males in there.
Ya I am going to see how they do with the fry once they have them, if they mostly live I will let them be, if they mostly get eaten I will move the fry to a grow out tank.
Now that they are all happy I will get some more pics.

Can't believe how well these fish are doing for being so new. Normally I get new fish and they hide for the first day lol. They are awesome looking.

I think you need more caves in the tank.

rams are not cave dwellers. and they spawn in the susbtrate. ususally they will unearth some substrtate and spawn on a rock or thats what mine did.

I have plenty of nice flat rocks for them. I was at first thinking that I didn't have enough cover for them but they are all out in the open so apparently I have enough! I will be adding in a few more potted plants to break up the lines of site to help quell any future aggression.

Theoretically they should produce both electric blues and German blues. Haven't looked into the genealogy much but I am assuming that the electric blue is a sport from the German blues. These guys came from an electric blue and a German blue pair...... so could be 25% electric and 75% German blue or a 50-50 mix.

These guys are very well socialized and very used to humans, not spooked at all! They were bred in the US by a hobbyist so they should be hardier than most!
