pleco breeding

i have two plecos that i am trying to breed. one albino bistle nose, one regular bristle nose. i bought them a cave and the male is either on top of it or in it. never more than an inch away. and my female will go over once and a wile, i fownd both of them cramed in there together today. and i was soooooooo excited but when they left i looked in the cave and nothing was inside. sooo still no eggs. my male is constantly fanning his fins as if he were faning eggs(is that normal???). and any advice on how to get them to breed would be wonderful!!!!!!!

If you have a proper cave just give them time, the male usually wont let the female leave the cave till she lays eggs... its odd that your male let her leave.
The female gets super fat when she is full of eggs.
Adult males are nearly always fanning, so that's normal.
I feed mine hikari algae wafers and new life spectrum thera a, zucchini and yellow squash make good treats.

i got the cave from your work fern. and ya she has gone in with him a bunch of times but still nothing. ill try the fresh vegtables you recomended(i hope they eat it because wwhen ever i try fresh vegtables the dont tough them) and as for the other food i think thats what i think i use. and her belly is huge!!!!!!!!!!! thank you both soooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just give them time. I know I get impatient waiting for pairs to bred. LOL

Yup just give it time, once they start they wont stop!

LOL you're not alone. I'm waiting for my angels to get it right so I get some fry and the wait is terrible. And you will have babies before you know it lol

At least you wont have a long wait like I have had with my zebra plecos, they are stubborn!

If you got the cave at boardroom it might be one of mine. Is it stone and 2 pieces? If so let me know when you get a successful spawn. I'm always looking to get feedback.

ya it is a small round stone one and it was inside one of the tanks but they still sold it to me.
