They Spawned!!!!!

ROFL... Woke up today and turned the light on on the fish tank and saw my female krib eating something so I looked closer and there were eggs!! The dummy rams weren't chasing her off so I took the rock and put it in the breeder net I have in case some of the eggs are still good. Can't tell though since they laid them on a darn white rock...

the eggs look good, but i think they may need an air stone as i think the parents fan them.

I have the breeder net by the out flow thing on the filter. Will it be enough movement for the eggs or should I up the flow of water? Not sure how strong a movement of water they need.

I knew you could breed them but dang that was quick!
OK artificial raising of substrate spawners 101;
fill your 10g along 1/2 full of water from the main tank, move the rock with eggs over to it. Kinda angle the rock against the side and put an air stone at the bottom so that the air is running over the eggs, this is a substitute for the parents fanning.
Come by here and get some methaline blue, its an anti-fungal mostly used to help keep the eggs from fungusing. turns you water blue and stains the silicone and other stuff in the tank
get you a small heater in there to keep the water at a good ram temp.
Any eggs that go white and/or fuzzy you will need to pluck off the rock and take out, I find a needle or safety pin the best to use for that.
you will need to go buy a cheap turkey baster, make sure it has a clear stem on it. this will be the way that you clean the bottom of the tank and do water changes. I squirt the old water into a clean bowl or cup so that I can double check that I didn't get any fry and can easily put them back if I did
You need to wait ti feed the fry till they are free swimming and their eggs sack is used up, they feed off their egg sack for a few days. First bites, decapped brine or crushed flake are good foods, 3-6 times a day feeding when you can (not everyone can every day but the more the better) You want to clean the tank bottom at least every other day with so much feeding.
Oh once they hatch out is when you want to put in a well seeded sponge filter.
Some floating plants help keep the water cleaner too.

Hey I was surprises they spawned so quickly that is a miracle in itself.

I'm going to get a couple dividers and section off the area next time they spawn I think...if I get to the store before they spawn again lol

I just bought a difuser panel from lowes today. I'd be glad to cut a divider for you, the whole panel cost me $13 so I can make you one pretty cheap.

I thought of another plan of action instead lol. Next time I see a tube they will be moved to the 10 gallon by themselves

Hubby is not going to like all these 10 & 20 tanks appearing.

My only problem is I can't fit a 10 gal tank under my main I just tried but if 5's would work....lol

why won't a 10 fit under a 75? Do you need to rearrange things under there?

Can't get the tank past the doors. The opening itself is not wide enough

that's odd for a 75 stand.

Can't even get it in there standing up on one end? Should be able to get it through the door that way then set it up inside the stand. I can get a ten under my 55 easily on a standard stand.

My suggestion is....buy some wood and twist Vix's arm into coming over and helping you build a new stand. That way you can put another nice size tank underneath.

Well they are getting ready to spawn again and it looks like I got 3 females 1 male and 1 not sure of what it is. lol Is it normal for 2 females to pair? At least I think they're both female.

It's the rock they laid their very 1st batch of eggs on and I stuck in the 10 gallon and put the blue stuff in and the water turned blue and so did the egg ROFL. The "mom" not "MOM" is a male woo hoo maybe they're not as confused as I thought lol
