Hey to all members who attend our monthly meetings! Is anybody willing to let me borrow a couple clown loaches? Not too big as they'd be going into a 29. I need them to rid me of my snail problem. If so please let me know! I could pick them up at this meeting and return them at October's meeting. And I promise they'd be well taken care of Smile

Mine are kind of on the big side like 4-5 inches. How about borrowing my dwarf puffer, it will clean a tank in 24 hours.

How to care for my puffer:
Open bag containing the puffer, remove the puffer, drop puffer in tank with snails, when snails are gone remove puffer to a bag with water and return. If puffer dies, dispose of in any way you see fit, just do not return the dead thing to me.
    DONE

Ok, I am convinced! Thanks Joe. There's plenty of time before the 8th to do some research as well. I would feel really bad if your puffer died because I didn't know something that's completely obvious to all puffer keepers, lol : D

Sarge, you and Amanda should come over soooooooooooon so you two can see some of my new stuff!!

If you do go the puffer route just acclimate it like you would anything else. They like blackworms to.

Would the puffer get along with my swordtails? I think it would.....

Sarge, you two are more than welcome to come over after the meeting, I have lots to show you : ) And you and Bryan need to finish all those beverages from before, lol, there's a whole drawer of them! AND YOU STILL HAVE A TON OF GLASSES IN OUR CUPBOARD!!!! We have waaayyy tttttoooooo many.

And I bought frozen bloodworms for the puffer. Plus it's long over due as all of my fish would love them.

I would watch your swords carefully, dwarf puffers may be little but they can get a bit nippy.

I know everyone is trying to help but please don't worry about this fish. The puffer is currently in with my butterfly goodeids and that includes fry. Last tank it was in had guppies in it. I only feed the goodeid tank 3 times a week and only flake food, the puffer doesn't bother the other fish. The puffer doesn't get "acclimated" it gets scooped up from one tank and droped into another. It has gone from 8.0Ph to 6.8Ph with no warning just droped in and walked away.

Do not feed the fish anything special, like black worms or frozen food. This fish is conditioned to eat two things flakes and snails. You wait and see your tank will be rid of snails in 24 hours. Very Happy

And the snails are gone overnight! He's doing fine, not picking on my swords and eating the flakes : )

Well I'm glad to hear my fish is doing the job it has been trained to do. I don't know how many snails they need to eat per day but that fish will eat every snail it finds on the first day. I had it clean out two 10 gallons and one 55 gallon all in 3 consecutive days. By the time it was done in the 55 it almost couldn't swim and looked "puffed" for about two days.
