    I used cheap acrylic paint sponged on the back. Just remember the first paint on the tank is what you see in front so you have to work in reverse order so details need to be done first. Then coat it with a varnish to seal it.

    Here's my attempt after seeing this post. This is a standard 10g tank that I'm using as a temporary home for a baby turtle I'm getting tomorrow. It didn't turn out as natural looking as I had hoped. I think I'll use greens and less purple and blue next time, lol. Still liking it regardless.

    Yeah, I got them from lowes. They are called "river pebbles" or something to that effect.

    Wow that was a year ago so many changes in a year. This tank is still in Richmond and I'm in Cape Coral Fl now. I love designing backgrounds for tanks.
