    Red Corydoras Empty Red Corydoras

Post by Ben Sun Mar 20, 2011 7:07 pm

Picked these up today from a lfs. They say they have a local breeder bringing them in. My best guess is a red lazer corydoras with long fins. Any help with the id would be great.

Sorry for the shoddy pics once again. Once i get my memory card straight i can upload some vids. Also might be able to get a better picture once they settle down a little.

They look like long finned bronze to me.

Start with that link. Ignore the long fin and look for the general shape and coloration. The long fin is more than likely a product of selective breeding like it is in long finned plecos.

You really want to keep your corys in tanks with sand not gravel. They are diggers for sure and they can damage their barbells on gravel and that's a bad thing for corys, most all of their taste and smell is on those barbells. Find a nice smooth silica pool filter sand for them. Run it through your fingers and if it feels sharp its not good for corys. You are after a beach sand feel.

I have the sand for them just waiting on the tank I was supposed to be picking up. They will be in sand in the next few days for sure. Going to check through that site now.
