I could be wrong here and i dont want to affend any one, So i hope no one takes offence to this. But with what you have in tank size you seem to be very overstocked. and IMO you are going to be asking for a whole lot of trouble. I would be looking into some bigger tanks in the near future or at least spliting them into some other tanks. But you shark should be in at least a 75g tank. Even in captivity they can still get up to 8"-12" long. Like I said before. I dont want to affend you or anyone else. But I do want to keep people informed, and as a fish lover. I realy dont want to see fish get over stressed and posibly hurt.

Nice list, but I thought gouramis fought each other and were very territorial. Obviously I don't own any myself lol.

Ya the fish in the 8g need to go into a pond.
the guys in the 30g need to be split and some go into a larger tank...... I still have some extra tanks leftover from when I was breeding, if you need more tanks let me know and we can work out something for you and your fish Wink

and if you didn't know how those fruitberry tetras were made..... http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/beginnerinfo/a/paintedfish.htm

no offense taken at all. all in the 30 gallon are 1-2 inches long and only have 1 of each fish.I have a 60 gallon sitting in my garage that I will set up soon for the gouramis and bottom feeders. like I said I'm only seven months into this fish project.and have many ideas for my odd shaped house. I do appreciate all advice and comments.

we have a shark in a big pond at my store hes 18" long!

oh and as far as Gourami aggression. I've never had any problems a had a 55 gallon a few years ago. every gourami I could find. in a mixed tank like that they like to be in pairs. all of my little ones now get along swimmingly also.

Very glad to hear you have upgrade ideas!!!
I have never kept Gouramis, I have just heard they can get nasty. It would be awesome if you could put up a few little bios so we could learn about them!

I keep gouramis, And they can start off very docile, But will get very nasty when they reach adult. And even worse when they start breading. Lots of hiding spots will majorly cut down on agression. But not allways. I wish you lots of luck with them though. And keep us posted.

hiding spots are key!they love hiding in plants at the top so use really tall plants or(what I've done) get some plants geared for reptiles that have suction cups on them. no chemicals on them."petsafe" exo terra or zilla.. very pretty to stick up top on the back and sides

Plan on needing at least 90g just for that flowerhorn, they will attack and eat other fish so they need their own tank.
You need to have your hands in with the flowerhorn daily and pretty much raise it like a dog, reward the good and punish the bad, if he ever bites you smack him! I've had Fred my flowerhorn for 3 years now and got him at 1" and in his juvie time he started to get a bit of a mean streak, smacked him good about 3 times and that was the end of that! They can be your best friend or your worst nightmare depending on how you raise them and the time you spend with them.
