    Okay guys this is where we are all one. I would like some suggestions on different types of contest to run 1 a month. Also if you have any Donation (fish, equipment, an extra $10 in paypal, gift certificates, etc...) prizes for the contests that would help immensely. Photo contest are done to death and would like for some unique ideas. Going to thank everyone now because I know we have some people out there who are going to come up with some great ideas.

    How about a 6month or year long breeders contest? You have to breed a species and report on the progress.
    For example I am trying to breed male pineapple sword with female pineapple lyretail to get male sailfin lyreswords. So I would take pics of the male and female together. Then pics of the expecting female, the new born fry and maybe a 3 month and 6 month update. The catch is another member has to nominate your post to be entered into the contest.

    I haven't thought it all through so any feedback or modifications would be great.

    Another idea is a DIY contest. I have seen some great ideas that came from people who are just a little handy and love to tinker.

    Example is my pleco caves, nothing more than a rock and a grinder needed.

    How about a home made fishtank contest where you have to make a tank out of an ordinary home item like the TV tank, toilet tank, and any others you might think of. It could be an old plastic jug with an airstone as long as it is able to sustain a single fish. I have an idea for one but I want to keep it secret just in case we like this contest.

    Themed tank contest, like halloween, christmas, pirates, wizard of oz, or whatever you can think of.

    I'll spill my beans... One night not too long ago, before Vix made her trek south, her and I spent way too much time online one night.. the exchanges evolved into aquascapes..... I came up with a few I'd like to do.. and in fact wanted her 33L to use in the creation of it!...
    I now have a 33L and will embark on "The Urban River"...
    This will be banked on each side with dwarf sags..some grasses.. and in the center (L - R) will be the essence of a river bed... within the bed will be a miniature grocery cart... spent beer bottles.. assorted trash... Something you'd see were ya to scuba dive in an urban riverine..
    Or.. Selection II. was... A "to scale" recreation of the Mall area of Washington DC.. the reflecting pool.. the monument, Lincoln Memorial.. the white house.. etc.. again.. all to scale as far as height and relative distance... All underwater..
    Then thnking a bit longer.. my research would put me squarely under the eyes of Homeland Security!.. SWAT outside my home in a NY Second!...<grin)...

    Or.. how about a re-creation of Mt. Rushmore.. underwater?... The possiblilites are endless!.. Thoughts? Bill in Va.
    p.s. Yea.. I have way too much time on my hands..

    I like the make a place, the themes and make a fish tank out of something odd!

    I will donate a Plecocane sampler pack for the next DIY contest: 1/4 pound of all 4 sizes of plecocane so that's one pound of fish food.

    Need more contest ideas...anyone have a fun idea?

    How about see who can get the coolest collection of fish out of a lake, ditch, canal and put together a nice tank. I know it can be hard as some fish eat all others in a tank..I've been there and done that lol

    I like the ditch fish idea, it would give evryone a reason to go collecting.

    I'd like to do the "themed tank design" and allow someone to enter the design without having to fill and establish the tank with fish (allows for multiple designs from someone who might only have a single spare tank to play with). Only catch would be everything you use in the design would have to be aquarium safe.

    If the fish are "floating" what's the difference between real or fake, just a little smell?
