Ya, hopefully. I havent seen it again since, but. They're still swimming around so they have to be eating something! It would just make me feel better if I could see it more. Or like a normal fish; when I put food in the water they go crazy!

i had paradise fish spawn in a 45 gallon tank a few years ago. They laid hundreds of eggs at a time. i removed all the other fish and dedicated the tank to them. i would get the brine shrimp eggs and hatch them so i was feeding them live baby brine shrimp. it worked great. i ended up with close to 200 that survived to full size Smile

Oh wow! That's awesome! I have been putting shrimp pellets in. They have been eating that as it softens up. And I'm almost afraid ill have that many lol. There's a lot. But that's a good idea. Where did you find the eggs??? And did you have a hard time getting rid of them! Ha that's my next worry!

you can get the eggs at any of the local fish stores. they come in a little glass vile. i traded some of the fish to a few of the local stores, gave away a bunch, kept a bunch Smile

Ok. I'm off tomorrow so ill check around and see if I can get some...any suggestions on filtering if I don't have a sponge? Right now all I have is a little 3gal pump driven in tank. It's nott really doing much. Every other batch if fry I've done I've just used a small HOB with a net over the intake. These guys just can't seem to handle the current.

Use a small hob, boardroom aquatics has prefilter sponges that fit very well on aquaclears and whispers. That is what I have always done with fry.

Do you have a sleeve for a filter cartridge? I bet you could rubber band that to a HOB intake.

That's what I have. But its a cut to fit sponge so its even thicker then just a cartridge linner. But the output from the filter is too strong. I'm starting to get despirate. I sucked up all but a hand full of the brood from the bottom of the tank. They are dying and I don't know what to do. They are growing but very slowly!! I do my water changes, not a lot and everyday, I work at. But I still haven't really seen them eating. And I can't filter the tank because they can't handle the current. What can I do to not loose any more fish???

I've seen people make makeshift air driven filters with a drilled pill bottle. Maybe Try something like that with a carbon zeolite mixture....Did you try the air filter I gave you?

So I made my make shift sponge filter. it seems to be working well. i used a storage container and you can see the sponges I put in it collecting little bits of um well crap lol. so hopefully this helps, and I can put my remaining fry in another grow out tank and try another batch.
