    4' T8 DIY fixture for under $40!

Post by Sarge on Sat Aug 11, 2012 11:39 am

So I was poking around Lowes the other day, I decided to just swing through their lighting department. As I was being blinded by the massive amount of light being pointed at my face, I noticed a tag that said..." 48" light fixture $28.99" and I said to myself "wow!" so for another $8 I purchased a package of two 6000k daylight bulbs. So I take it home, and it was almost too bright with both bulbs in!! We took one out and it's perfect!

Oh yes! They are wonderful! Its nice how much cheaper things can be when theyre not labeled for a certain use.

You are going to fit in very well around here. I've been down the same isle for T5 fixtures couldn't understand how they are $200 at the pet store but $25 in the hradware store.

Haha well thank you. And ya it's amazing the price jump on things that are for a "specific purpose" when it's the same thing as one that's multi use. Oh they also sell and cut glass there super cheap! I got glass cut for three tanks for like $12 I think!

Um, I forget. I'll check then let you know. But this light bar holds two bulbs, and we're only using one because its too bright otherwise.
