I got this tank on July 4th 2012 and started from zero and very little knowledge.

Here is when I first got it.

Then I decided to stain it a darker color so it can match my furniture. It took me about a week of how thick of a coat I gave it.

A couple days later I bought live sand and salt. Then I powered everything on. Very cloudy for a couple days since I added the sand last.

Then I went to Tampa and I bought 125lbs of some really good live rock. I mean these rocks are full of critters. Really excited at this point. Smile

Well I thought I was done with my rock layout, to find out it is no good. Sad No caves, no where really for fish to hide. So here we go again. 5 hours later....

Make sure they won't fall. Can you put your hand in the tank and wiggle the rock and it move?

Love the looks of it though so far. What lights are you running?

Monday August 20th, I just got back from a mini vacation and first thing I do is look at my tank and test my water. Everything good so I decide to go get a pair of clown fish.

Thursday August 23rd, I test the water again and my Nitrates have gone up just a bit. Aside that the clowns are doing great swimming and eating and all the little frags are doing great too.

Thanks Zeke, Yes it was very flimsy the other way. Now there are several caves and a tunnel from side to side that meets all the caves. I probably will move rocks again if I do buy another 40-50 pounds. Ill keep posting as I go.

Hello everyone! I have been dealing with all the bad stuff for the past two weeks and eveything is where it has to be now. I had red slime algea and now it's gone. I used Chemiclean which I bought at boardroom. Red slime algea was gone in two days. I also had lots of aptasias which are also all gone now. I took out every single rock and torched those suckers. After I torched them I scraped them off. Also who can forget the two mantis shrimps. I pulled the rocks that they where in and I squirted club soda into the hole and out rite away. Of course since I had to take out every single rock I did the escape all over again. Smile Now that all the bad is out, I think its about that time!! Wink

There I was trying to catch the mantis with a trap which didnt work out to well. You can also see the red slime.

Here you can see all the aptasias before removing them out.

Here is one of the mantis. Pretty big!!

7hrs later.. aptasias, mantis shirimp and red slime out. Still a bit cloudy. Lets try this again.

Won't you have another cycle since you fried all the good bacteria getting rid of the aptasia?
