Somehow I made it through the interview process and was able to adopt this pair! Plus a 60G tank/lights/etc.

Ok I'm jealous lol. Beardies are totally awesome. I had a couple, but had to get rid of them. Kids wouldn't keep hands out of the cage. Beautiful pair they are.

I lost my 8-10 y/o beardie a while back. He was great company watching football and hoops with me!.. The female on the left has a yellow tint and the male is at the time plain colored. I am concerned about the level of humidity in the cave and whether they'll be succeptable to respiratory ailments. Thoughts anyone? Bill in Va.

I think they'll be fine. They need humidity I think to shed

They come from the Australian desert. I bet they will do just fine. I kept and bred a pair in a 6x2x2 open topped tank in northwest montana(indoors of course) for several years and never had any problems with shedding or anything. They do love baths though... I would put about 3 inches of warm water in the tub and let 'em splash around for a while.

If you do breed them the babies need really high humidity at first or they will dry out really fast. And there really isnt enough meat on a baby beardie to warrant making jerky out of 'em Wink

humidity wont hurt them unless you keep them damp. down here in south fl we had all 120 breeder cages outside. they are pretty hardy animals.
