    Hi,

I'm John, been into fresh water planted tanks for 5-6 yrs now. Started with a 55, then went to a 125, and now at a 180. Stu-Nice told me about the site, when he took my 125. Here are some shots of my 180 which has been up for a month. I did have large rainbows and clownloaches, but going to go with Angelfish, have some farowella's in quarentine, and not sure about the clown's. Stu also got some of the large rainbows, that I could catch.

Welcome aboard John, I don't see any pics or attachments.

We have a lot of angelfish keepers on here and I have some big tanks too (1)240, (1)150, (2)125, (1)90 also a bunch of smaller tanks. If you are looking to get rid of the clown loaches I have a great home for them in my 240 tank which currently has 4 clowns all between 4-6inches.

I tried to post pictures, but I got an error indicated that new members aren't allowed to post links for 7 days. The image icon, didn't do anything after I specified my pictures, so not sure what to try next.

I like Clownloaches. My first thought for the 180 was to put 12 in it with plants and then a large school of brillant rasboras or blood fin tetras. I'm going to keep the clowns and see what happens, they just might look too out of place though.

I didn't know about the picture thing, guess we all have to wait till you pass quarantine, lol. If you put some big driftwood in the tank the loaches blend right in, if not they stick out like a sore thumb.

Yes, its drilled down the middle, 6 - 1 inch holes. I only use 2 for the intake to the sump which are the pylons with maggie mufflers on them. I had bad luck painting PVC and tried hard to find black, but grey was the best I could do. I do run 3 returns, short with strainers, and have a check valve to prevent backflow into the sump. The other is capped but plumbed so I can use it as a drain if ever needed.

I wasn't really a big angel fish person. Don't care for the koi or marbled, but really like the Altrums and the Peru silvers. Saw these at the LFS, and took 6. Seems 1 is MIA though.

Did you get your angels from Boardroom? I think he had some that looked just like those and I was eyeballing them, but out of tank space lol.

    Very nice tank!
(glad to hear you have check valves on those short pipes)
Very nice selection of plants! Good and hardy stuff!
and I love the tannins in your water! So many folks dont like tannins but I feel they add a natural look and feel to a tank!

Yes the angels are blues and came from Boardroom. Waiting on them getting some more to grab another 6 to 8. Also thinking some pencilfish to school and hang near the top.
