the anenome needs the light so you will probably need a chiller on the tank.

A fan will also help move some heat away.

Not sure if it's an easy retrofit but maybe some computer fans added to the ends of the fixtures would help. I'm thinking they can splice into existing wiring and you just need to cut the holes in each end for the fans to blow through.

Darn.. I have 4 brand new, in the box, coralife Aqualight canopy fans. They retail for 22.00. I'm asking 10.00 locally so shipping costs might make them almost as expensive as buying them from a local retail outlet plus you have the warranty and store standing behind the product. These measure 3.125" square. I've another one, assembled but never used that measures 4.75 square. $26.00 retail.
I would think if you picked one up locally and directed the stream against the end of the light fixture, you'd be carrying off heat from both the top and the bottom of the lighting. Then again, the heat coming from the top shouldn't be much of a water temp issue, so maybe direct it down the length of the light from below. Sorry to be thinking on my feet..
