Privet (Hi) All from Naples, FL!

Post by Thebiggerthebetter on Fri Sep 02, 2011 10:08 am

Hi Colleagues, Peers, Newbies, Oldbies, Queenbees, Mr. President, Madam Speaker...

Thanks to Joefish72 for introducing me to this forum. My name's Viktor. My last name you can't pronounce anyway. I've not kept fish for too long but these 2.5 years have been so intense that I am building my own fish business as we speak.

Just moved to Naples FL from Rochester NY a few months back exactly for the purpose of the aforementioned "fish business".

Gonna need lots of luck and prayers.

Looking forward to mutually helpful and enriching exchange and friendships.

I've been most active at PlanetCatfish.com, if you'd like to get a sense of who I am sooner than later.

    Cheers All!

    Viktor "TheBiggerTheBetter"

Well, your system won't allow links for 7 days, so I'll just list some (even though it is the wrong forum for it?): large amazonian catfish, southeastern asian cats, synos, gars, pacus, koi. I've lost 80% of my fish during the move - used to have much more, arowanas, giant gouramies, other SA and African cats, etc.

Welcome!! Don't have many cats now but used to keep several until switching directions with my tanks.

Nah... just a fool's dream of a Public Aquarium of his own - no match for big Public Aquaria but more of an extended hobby with benefits, maybe... Way too early to say anything. Still working on my permits. Even if I manage to open the doors, only God knows if it's viable in any length of time. While pulling all the permits (which will cost many tens of thousands $), I am researching what to build the exhibits out of. My plan C (yeah, A and B are dead) involves setting up exhibits on two of my screened-in lanais, ~3500 sq ft. I've been pondering for a long time, reading and collecting estimates between concrete, acrylic, fiberglass, stainless steel, aluminum, PE, rubber liner, etc. My smallest exhibit would be 8'x4'x3' = 700 gal. For now, the front runners are the aquatic-eco fiberglass aquaculture tanks with windows at ~$2000 a piece.

    Hey Viktor,
I'm glad you found your way to our little group.

I'm not much for dealing with permits, and city hall but I'd be more than happy to help with contractors. I went owner/builder with my house after 2 seperate general contractors went out of business during my construction. I went from concrete walls and a roof to finished with a C.O. in just 6 weeks. There is something to be said for doing things the NY/NJ way.

Oh, and to all the forum friends you'll quickly learn that Viktor is a master at keeping "LARGE" catfish.

Thanks a bunch Joe. I will keep in mind. Small correction/addition because I cannot and will not live up to the expectation you are setting up:
