Gravid or Bloated??? Empty Gravid or Bloated???

Post by thatbettaglo Mon Jul 25, 2011 7:40 pm

After reading the articales and seeing the pictures on bloat, I am terribly afraid that my sisters albino female is suffering. We thought she was gravid, but I became suspicous after her and the male went into the cave multiple times and resulted in nothing. Please help me confirm.

She has been placed in a sperator inside the tank with some shelled peas and a bit of algae wafer and the whole tank was treated with parasiteguard.

Looks like bloat to me but not up to date on BNP. I do know they get huge full of eggs though. I would stop the medication as bloat is more food related than parasite. water changes, proper feeding and temp control is usually all is needed for most diseases.

She is full of eggs! Let her back with the male. What size is the tank, you should do a small dose of Epsom salts in there just for S&G's Epsom salt is kinda like a mild fishy laxative and helps clear out their system if there is any internal issues. Let me know the tank size and I will let you know how much Epsom salt to add.

Just as an FYI even though it's tough to sit and wait you should know what the problem is before you start medications. A lot of problems can be resolved with a temperature change or water changes. Chemicals should be saved as a last resort.

Good luck with the breeding and keep us posted on any results.
