Came home today and my female German Blue Ram was dead. She has been swimming around fine eating great no marks on her or spot color was good. No idea why she croaked. The male is still doing great.

I have an EBJD and I'm wondering if he was the culprit. I've noticed lately that he is getting a little snotty with the smaller fish.

Yes he will get quite nasty if you don't get rid of him or move him. Also Rams are hard to keep not for the beginner.

I agree about moving the EBJD...They don't even get along with each other until mating time...................I personally think that Rams require more attention than Discus or Otocinclus.

Well I had another unexplained fish death. This time one of my male Odessa Barbs Sad I did finally catch the little punk EBJD. I think it's time to sell or trade the lil bugger cause my spare tank is going to my mom for her anniversary.

see if a LFS will take him for trade in the mean time you can use a plastic tub to keep him in like a 30 gal 3/4 full with a small filter.

Good luck, i have 2 rams, theyr not that hard but they are picky about the water, found why they croaked had a small ammonia spike, wasn't bad but enough to have my electrics croak

Sorry you lost some fish. Ebjd can definitely be nasty and I think moving him was the best idea.

Rams are hard to keep alive. They do not tolerate changes in water conditions well and if you are not right on time with water changes and really watching levels. They really are for more experienced hobbyist.
