Its a spectra pure 'the eliminator' Rated for 180GPD!
Now I just gotta figure the thing out scratch
It should help me out with all the new softer water fish that I am getting. I do plan on using some RO water for my L46 plecos in hopes that that will finally trigger then to spawn Rolling Eyes Lazy fish all they do is eat expensive food and hide, hopefully soon they start earning their keep!
I think I am going to use a 35g trash can as my holding vat for the RO water till I can find a plastic 55g drum to use.
    This could get interesting........

nice, i have heard of people forgetting to shut off the ro unit and making a mess. hopefully you have it down packed and you have a float valve to stop the unit when the barrel is full.

I know I either need an overflow line or a float valve. I will probably do both.

I think I will do a quasi temporary set up on it and possibly move it later. Not sure if it will be in the way where I am going to put it. May have to tap into a water and drain line elsewhere in the house....Just not sure where.... scratch

Pretty much gives you pure H2O, takes out all of the dissolved solids and other 'contaminants'
But in tanks you cant use pure RO water, you either need to add a buffer to it or mix it with tap to get the desired PH and GH and such.

Working on adjusting the ration now, pull out the thingamabob trim it down put it back measure this measure that friggin frustrating! Apparently so frustrating that we forgot to turn the water off before we took the hose out to trim down the thingamabob..... so ya it sprayed water everywhere.....

Waste water is going down the drain. Nothing I care to water in front of the house.

Ya I thought about using it for my Africans but they are all used to a PH of 7.5-8.... And I haven't though of a better system for water delivery into the fish room..... so for now its hauling buckets..... so not doing that for the waster water Laughing

I know this thread is a couple months old but I just did a whole house RO. It makes upto 2100 gallons a day and I have a 300 gallon holding tank. This is a mega filtration unit that does everything, it gives pure water and due to the holding tank with bubbler the water comes out at 8.2 Ph but settles down to 7.6 in just a few hours. The wood in my tanks does the rest and ph is at 7.2-7.4 all the time. It's only been a few weeks but so far no problems in the tanks and all I do is just pour the water in.
What it looks like outside (tank is 8ft tall)
So I got an RO unit DSC03079

    Pressure tanks and prefilter (blue)
So I got an RO unit DSC03081

    UV steralizer
So I got an RO unit DSC03080

    Huge RO membrane
So I got an RO unit DSC03082

Now that's what I really want! Especially that UV! Do a chlorine test to see if that's knocking out the chlorine too, I have heard that UV in the right calibration will knock out chlorine and chlorimines.

That is a 4ft long UV and chlorine is down to 1 ppm. I can give you the number to my water guy. He'll do anything you need, even if it's just the UV.

    Fern

If you are making your water and putting it in a can you could use a pond pump and UV from Lowes and just recirculate the water over night and it will pretty much steralize it by morning.
