    New betta tank!

Post by Fern on Tue Apr 19, 2011 11:31 am

Got a fluval Chi 5g tank to move my bfs halfmoon betta named Purkle into. Got it set up with stuff I had laying around, got his input on plants and substrates and stuff..... here's some pics

Its a pretty spiffy little tank, the light and filter are all in the boxy thing! The filter sucks up from the bottom and squirts out the top and cascades over the sides, I'm sure it would flow over all 4 sides if it was perfectly level but its not tongue The flow seems pretty decent.....
I am going to go down to the ditch soon and get some mosquito fern, its a native floating plant like duckweed but much prettier, that will be the 'lid' so the betta hopefully wont jump out...
Till I get that the tank is just gonna run vacant.

Oh well I will use your floaters in here then!
Ya it is super nice! Looking at it online I just figured it was another dorky fancy tank, but no its pretty functional and nice! Sure not with the $80 they want for it but it is a pretty spiffy tank!
I do plan on supplementing the LED with a 65k screw in florescent bulb in some sort of lamp near it.

Just put the 3 ghost shrimp from the ditch in there, they are pretty big so the should be fine with the betta... if not oh well!

Looks like a great little Betta home, and I'm sure he will love it. Something I do to level my smaller tanks is to put pennies underneath, and this works pretty well. Smile

I use change to level my metal stands Wink several thicknesses to chose from and you've always got some change laying around to use!
Its close enough to level that the filter is fully functional, just not the even cascade over the whole box, I think if I tried for that I would be leveling the thing for ages!
